Questions
Unlike a conventional printed questionnaire, an online questionnaire does not simply consist of questions to which an answer is selected (selection questions/ratings) or written (text inputs). Online questionnaires offer a large variety of question formats or question types. This has the advantage that the questionnaire can be designed in very versatile ways, but it also means that you always have to consider in advance which question type is suitable for the respective purpose. How to create questions is explained in the chapter An Online Questionnaire in 5 Minutes. You will find the different question types in a list with example images on the page Question Types.

Functional Elements
Functional elements are created in sections of the questionnaire just like questions. However, they are not questions, but elements that serve to control the flow, to measure, or to store data in the background, without the respondent seeing them as a question.
