Secure Your User Account with a Hardware Token (14.05.2022)
From now on you can secure your SoSci Survey user account with a hardware token (e.g. YubiKey) as a second factor for authentication. To do this, select the option Two-Factor Authentication in the user account.
Responses to the Log4Shell security vulnerability (16.12.2021)
According to current knowledge, SoSci Survey (as a PHP application) is not affected by the CVE-2021-44228 vulnerability that has been reported in the media. We have noted details about this in the online support.
Server issues on 14.12.2021
A hardware problem caused a massive performance decline on Dec. 14. The server www.soscisurvey.de was at times unavailable between 11 a.m. CET and 2 p.m. CET, or only accessible with long loading times.
The pro-server s2survey.net was not affected by the issue.

Server Downtime 30./31.05.2020 (announcement from 15.05.2020)
The server www.soscisurvey.de will be unavailable on May, 30th. (Saturday). From 30.05.2020, 11:00 am (Pacific Time) to 21:00 the project administration will be unavailable, and respondents cannot access questionnaires.
The pro-server s2survey.net is available.

New Video Tutorials (18.04.2020)
A whole bunch of new video tutorials from the LMU Munich now explain HTML code, PHP code, filter questions and randomization with SoSci Survey.
Free research despite GDPR and personal data (17.04.2020)
SoSci Survey can offer the collection of personal data only on the paid pro-server s2survey.net, and also a DPA is required.
Meanwhile, many universities already run their own survey server based on SoSci Survey. This considerably reduces the organizational efforts for collecting personal data.

Malfunction on www.soscisurvey.de
On Wednesday, February 19, 2020 the server www.soscisurvey.de was not reachable between 03:25 am and 04:00 am (PT) and only showed the error message "Bad Gateway". After resolving and eliminating the cause, we expect that the survey server will be available again with its usual reliability.
The pro server s2survey.net was not affected by the malfunction.
Partial Unavailability
On Saturday, 15.02.2020 the servers www.soscisurvey.de and s2survey.net were not accessible via IPv4 for the whole day through some Internet providers. The reason was presumably a malfunction at an Internet node. For the vast majority of the users and participants the server was regularly available.
Malfunction on s2survey.net
On 29. and 30.01.2020 the server s2survey.net experienced disruptions in the time between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. (PT). Questionnaires could only be filled out very slowly, in some cases an error message appeared instead of the questionnaire.
By now the problem is under control. We apologize for any problems that may have arisen.
Downtime soscisurvey.de on 12/20-21/2019
On 12/20-21/2019 the server www.soscisurvey.de was not reachable or showed error messages due to a problem with the configuration settings from 10:20pm to 0:45am PST. In the meantime, the problem has been finally resolved and fixed.

Our SMS gateway has announced system maintenance for September, 11th between 2:00 UTC and 3:00 UTC. During this period SMS can not be delivered at all or only delayed.

Disruption for Telekom Customers 06./07.08.2019
DNSSEC has been in existence for several years to further secure the connection between browser and server beyond HTTPS (SSL encryption). This feature usually works fine, so we decided to enable it for SoSci Survey.
After changing the domains to DNSSEC, some customers and survey participants unfortunately had problems accessing www.soscisurvey.de . According to the current state of knowledge, only users who access the Internet via Telekom were affected.
Since the problems with some customers still existed after 24 hours, we decided to disable DNSSEC for www.soscisurvey.de on 07.08. at 11 o'clock CET for the time being. With the domain of the Pro-Server s2survey.net no problems occurred according to our state of knowledge.
We apologize to all affected survey projects.
Failure with mailing dispatch on July, 6th an 7th 2019
Due to a technical problem on Saturday, 07/06 and Sunday, 07/07/2019 the server www.soscisurvey.de did not send any scheduled mailings. The dispatch was made up after troubleshooting on 07.07.2019 at 19:30 UTC.
