Add-on Module: Single Sign-On (SSO)

The SSO add-on module allows users to log in to the survey server directly with their company or campus account. The connection works via SAML2/Shibboleth and LDAP.

The module is aimed at companies and universities that operate a local survey server. For universities we also offer a SAML2 campus login for our cloud service: Cloud Offer for Educational Institutions

Local Survey Server

Using a central login generally has the following advantages:

• Users do not have to register a separate user account or note down separate login details.
• User accounts do not have to be deleted manually when people leave the company or university.

Please note that using the SSO module via Shibboleth/SAML2 requires the installation of SimpleSAMLphp on the survey server. Detailed instructions can be found at Single Sign-On (SSO) via Shibboleth.

Campus License

For universities that use the paid cloud service, the SSO login offers additional functions in addition to the advantages mentioned above:

• SSO can be used to automatically grant access to the campus license and/or additional licenses, e.g., for the “implicit methods” module.
• SSO can be used to ensure that members of the university only use the Pro server – this is useful if you assume that personal data will be collected and an AVV has been agreed for the Pro server.
