====== Changes During Data Collection ====== | ====== Change the Questionnaire During the Survey ====== |

In an ideal world, a questionnaire is created, tested and then the survey can begin. Nevertheless, subsequent changes to the questionnaire cannot always be avoided completely -- whether it be correcting a spelling mistake, or an important answer or answer option is missing. | In an ideal world, a questionnaire is created, tested and then the survey can begin. **Problem 1:** When changing the questionnaire itself -- changing the order of questions or pages, inserting or removing questions, changing the presentation of the question ({{:button.settings.png?nolink|settings}}) -- all changes are saved immediately. This is also true when changes are made to PHP code elements: these are saved while typing, and in some cases do not work until changes are finished. | **Problem 1:** When changing the questionnaire itself -- changing the order of questions or pages, inserting or removing questions, changing the presentation of the question ({{:button.settings.png?nolink|settings}}) -- all changes are saved immediately. **Problem 2:** If you insert new pages or shuffle pages around, then the allocation of the page number to the recorded dwell time (TIME001 etc., [[:en:results:variables#antwortzeiten|Response Times]]) is no longer correct. If a page is given the number 2 initially, and (because another page was inserted before it), is then number 3 after the change, the dwell time is saved in TIME003. However, the old dwell time still remains in TIME002. | **Problem 2:** If you insert new pages or shuffle pages around, then the allocation of the page number to the recorded dwell time (TIME001 etc., [[:en:results:variables#dwell_times|Response Times]]) is no longer correct. If there are more significant changes to be made in the questionnaire (especially to the PHP code), making a copy of the questionnaire beforehand is recommended (**Compose Questionnaire** -> tab //Further questionnaires// -> duplicate button {{:button.copy.gif?nolink|Duplicate Questionnaire}}). Afterwards, ensure that the questionnaire used up to this point is set as default in //Default Questionnaire / Random selection for questionnaires//.
