Participant Information sheet:

 

You are invited to take part in the study ‘Relationship between family physicians’ personality and person-centred care, resilience and burnout’. This study is led by a team of Spanish family physicians and involves collaboration with 12 European countries. If you are interested in taking part, please read this information sheet carefully.

This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee of Alcalá de Henares in accordance with current legislation and is conducted in accordance with the principles set out in the Declaration of Helsinki and Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

If you decide to participate, you should first read this document and ask any questions you need in order to fully understand the details of the study. If you wish, you may keep a copy of this document, discuss it with others, and take the time you need to decide whether to participate.

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to take part or, if you agree to participate, you may change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time without having to give any explanation.

What is the purpose of the study?

We invite you to participate in a study whose aim is to assess whether there is a relationship between family physicians’ personalities and attitudes vs person-centred care, their resilience, and burnout.

Why have I been invited to take part?

You are invited because you are a family physician or a resident doctor currently training in this specialty.

What does my participation involve?

If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a personality test, the Big Five Questionnaire, as well as the Maslach questionnaire, the Patient–Practitioner Orientation Scale, and the brief resilient coping questionnaire. You will also complete a short questionnaire with some questions related to your professional profile.

What discomfort or inconvenience might my participation cause?

Participation in this study does not involve any risk to your health. Your participation will require a small amount of your time. Completing the questionnaires will take approximately 15 minutes.

Will I receive information about the results of the study?

The overall results of the study will be analysed anonymously; however, if you wish to receive the results of your personality test, you may select the option at the end of the survey.

Will the results of this study be published?

The results of this study will be submitted to scientific journals and presented at scientific conferences. No data that could lead to the identification of individual participants will be disclosed. Your data will be collected and stored in anonymized code form until the end of the study. This means that the research team won´t be able to identify to whom it belongs.

Participants may contact the research team at any time to raise any queries or ask any questions they may have.
