Research Study on Financial Decision-Making

This survey is aimed at people who live in and are citizens of the United States. If you are from another country, please click here to find the corresponding survey.

Participant Information

The purpose of this research study is to understand how people around the world make financial decisions. You will be asked to complete a survey. In the first part, you will choose between different hypothetical monetary rewards. There are no right or wrong answers—just pick the option you prefer the most. Then, you will answer some demographic questions (age, gender, education, country of residence and birth, citizenship, employment, income). The survey takes approximately 4 to 6 minutes to complete.

There are no known risks associated with this study. Your answers are anonymous, and no personal information (e.g., name, address) is collected. The anonymous data will be made available to other researchers in a public database, but personal identification of individual data is not possible. If you believe that any demographic question—or combination of questions—could make you personally identifiable within your country, please skip that question.

Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw at any time by simply closing the browser window before finishing the study, without any negative consequences.

If you have questions about this project, please contact Justin Strickland (contact for the U.S. sample; JStrickland@som.umaryland.edu) or Kristof Keidel (project coordinator; kristof.keidel@uni-bonn.de).
