Dear Participant,

Thank you very much for supporting our research! This study investigates how a short browser game is experienced and how participants feel before and after playing. The project is being conducted at the Chair for Socially Interactive Agents at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.

Study Procedure

Participation takes approximately 30 minutes in total and consists of three parts. First, you will answer a number of questions about yourself as well as your thoughts, feelings, and current state. You will then play a short browser game for approximately 8–12 minutes. Afterwards, you will answer further questions about your current state, your experience with the game, and the audio elements you noticed while playing.

Please participate using a laptop or desktop computer. Enable sound on your device and use headphones if possible. Please also make sure that you are in a quiet environment and are unlikely to be interrupted while playing.

Voluntary Participation

Participation in this study is voluntary. You may stop participating at any time and without providing a reason by closing the browser window. Incomplete datasets will be deleted before the analysis. Choosing not to participate or ending your participation early will not result in any disadvantages.

Data Protection

Your data will be collected completely anonymously. At no point will you be asked for your name or any other information that could uniquely identify you. Because the data are collected anonymously, it will no longer be possible to identify and delete an individual dataset after participation has been completed.

The data and personal communications collected as part of this study will be treated confidentially. The fully anonymized data will be retained for at least five years after data analysis or for at least five years after the publication of a paper relating to this study.

Compensation

You will not receive any compensation for participating.
