Thank you for your interest in this study!

Intimate bonds between humans and social chatbots are becoming increasingly common. As these relationships grow in visibility and depth, it is essential to explore the unique psychological dynamics that shape them. We have been conducting research on the relationships between humans and technologies for years and would like to invite you to participate our next study.

This short online study (approximately 20 minutes) aims to explore the partner preferences of individuals with chatbot partners. For this, this survey includes several questionnaires, as well as an Implicit Association Test (IAT).

To participate, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be proficient in English
  • Complete the study on a laptop or desktop
  • Be currently engaged in a romantic or emotionally intimate relationship with at least one social chatbot (a computer program or AI system designed to simulate conversation and companionship)

This study is fully anonymous. No personally identifying data will be linked to your responses. The only demographic information we will ask for includes your age, gender, and region. The legal basis for processing your personal data is your voluntary written consent in accordance with the GDPR (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a), and all collected data will be used exclusively for scientific purposes. Some questions in the survey may include references to romantic or sexual topics. Please ensure you feel comfortable with this before proceeding.

As a thank-you for your participation, you will receive an Amazon gift card worth either $20 or $40, depending on the extent of data you allow us to analyze.

To process this, we will need your email address. This information will be stored separately from your research responses and will be deleted immediately after the gift card is sent.

Please note that you can only participate once in this study, otherwise you will not be eligible for compensation

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw at any point, for any reason, without facing any consequences. Should you choose to exit early, you will still be compensated proportionally for the time you've invested.
