Welcome
We
cordially invite you to participate in our study. In order for you to
participate, we need your consent. Please read through the questions and
answers and give us your consent on the next page if you would like to
participate.
What is
the study about?
We
would like to find out how different teaching methods influence knowledge
acquisition. To this end, we have developed a teaching experiment in which we test several types of knowledge transfer; you will only receive one of them. Afterward, you will receive all the information about the experiment.
Will it
take long?
We estimate
that you will need approximately 20 minutes to participate.
Are
there any risks?
There are
no risks for you.
What
will happen to my data?
We will use
your answers and materials anonymously for our research. The data itself will
initially be collected exclusively using our questionnaire tool and processed
and stored by our research team. This includes passing on this non-identifiable
data to other researchers for the purpose of testing, replication,
verification, or inclusion in so-called meta-analyses. If you contact us, we
will delete your contact details (e.g., email address) along with your messages
after one month.
Can I
have my data deleted?
We can only
delete your data if we can clearly identify it. Since we anonymize the data, we
unfortunately cannot identify your entries and therefore cannot delete them. If
you contact us, you can of course insist on the deletion of the email
correspondence.
Can I
withdraw from the study?
Yes, you
can withdraw from the study or revoke your consent at any time without negative
consequences.
Is AI
used in this study?
As part of
this study, you may use an application developed by us that includes an
AI-powered chatbot. Your text inputs will be transmitted by our application via
an application programming interface (API) to our internal LLM models. On our own servers, your inputs
and the corresponding AI responses are stored in anonymized form for research
purposes.
Recommendation: Please do not enter any sensitive personal data into the chatbot (e.g. full names, student ID numbers, dates of birth).

Who is responsible for processing my data?
Technical University of Munich, Professorship of Applied Education Technologies (Prof. Dr. Stephan Krusche), TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, Boltzmannstraße 3, 85748 Garching bei München, Germany.
What is the legal basis for processing my data?
Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR); this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. Raw data will be anonymised after analysis and deleted by 31 December 2027 at the latest.
What are my rights?
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). As we do not collect names or contact details, we usually cannot link your responses to you; these rights can then only be exercised if you provide information that allows us to identify your record unambiguously (Art. 11 GDPR).
Who can I contact if I have concerns about data protection?
If you have any concerns about data protection, you can contact the TUM data protection officer, Dr. Fabian Franzen, at beauftragter(at)datenschutz.tum.de at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority: the Bavarian Data Protection Commissioner (Der Bayerische Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz), Wagmüllerstraße 18, 80538 Munich, Germany, www.datenschutz-bayern.de.
Who is
conducting the study?
The project
is being conducted as part of a doctoral thesis at the Technical University of
Munich.
I still
have questions!
We know that feeling well! Simply write to our
study director Prof. Dr. Stephan Krusche (krusche@tum.de), or better yet, the responsible
doctoral student Ben Lenk-Ostendorf (ben.lenk-ostendorf@tum.de).
