Equity and Wellness in Academia –  it’s your chance to speak up!

Dear participants,

Thank you so much for taking the time to take part in our survey.

This project is supported by the Lindau foundation, The Catalan institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, and is sponsored by the RSC (Royal Society of Chemistry) Inclusion and Diversity fund.

It originated at the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2025), where a panel discussion on systemic challenges in academia sparked a discussion of equity, inclusion and wellness and how to promote them in academia. During that meeting, participants shared perspectives on the challenges faced by scientists in different countries, and identified the need for a global, evidence-based understanding of barriers and enablers to inclusion in academia.

The purpose of this survey is to gather comprehensive insights from scientists at all career stages, across geographic regions, to identify factors that support or hinder equitable career progression. We aim to examine issues such as mentorship, well-being, institutional support, experiences of bias or harassment, and the effectiveness of potential interventions. Your responses will be completely anonymous and will help shape recommendations for institutions, funders, and professional societies on how to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment in academia.

The findings will be shared widely, including a summary on the Lindau website and a peer-reviewed publication, providing the academic community with actionable insights to improve inclusion globally. Your perspective is invaluable, and your participation will directly contribute to advancing diversity and equity in the academic environment.

TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION FOR YOUR TIME, WE WILL RANDOMLY AWARD 50 VOUCHERS WORTH €25 EACH. AT THE END OF THE SURVEY, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO ENTER THE PRIZE DRAW IF YOU WISH.

If you wish to enter the prize draw, at the end of the survey you will be asked to send us an e-mail with your participation code. The participation code cannot be traced back to your answers, which will remain anonymous. If you are selected by the prize draw, you will be able to collect your prize via the platform Tremendous Reward as a voucher from various suppliers, or you can decide to donate your prize to a charity of your choice, through the same platform.

The survey will take about 15–20 minutes to complete and is anonymous. You are welcome to leave comments for our project team in English.

The survey will be open until 30.04.2026

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the project leader, Dr. Silvia Favero (silvia.favero@icn2.cat).

Kind regards,

Silvia Favero
on behalf of the project team
