Dear Study Participant,

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey. The aim of this survey is to find out how thinking about different events in one's own life is related to the tendency to pursue different career paths.

Your participation is crucial to the research on career paths. Through your responses, we hope to gain insights that will benefit future generations of young job seekers.

The survey consists of a series of questions and statements. Please answer them as honestly and accurately as possible. Your responses will be collected anonymously.  The more accurate your answers, the more meaningful the results will be. There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in understanding your thoughts and feelings. You may cancel the survey at any time with no consequences.

The survey will take no more than 18 minutes to complete.

Yours sincerely,

Clemens Söhngen (M.Sc.), Prof. Timo Meynhardt & Prof. Benjamin Bader

Purpose of the Study
This study is part of a larger research project. This research explores how entrepreneurs develop their professional identity over time, and how motivations such as the desire to leave a legacy influence this process. It is part of a joint project between researchers at Newcastle University and HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.

What Participation Involves
You will be asked to complete one or more online questionnaires over a period of time. Some participants may also be presented with reflective prompts, including questions that ask you to think about emotionally relevant topics (e.g., life goals or difficult experiences). These will always be clearly marked with a warning, and you can choose not to continue at any time.

Voluntary Participation
Participation is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw at any point without giving a reason. You may also skip any question you do not wish to answer.

Use of Data
To match your responses over time, we will ask for your name and email address. This information will be securely stored, kept separate from your survey responses, and used only for matching purposes via a code. Once the study is complete, your identifying information will be permanently deleted. All other data will remain anonymous and will be used only for academic research.

Data Protection
Your data will be handled in accordance with data protection laws and university research ethics guidelines. Only the research team will have access to the data.

Support
If you feel uncomfortable at any point, you can stop immediately. Contact information for support services and the research team will be provided at the end of the study.
