Welcome
Thank you for participating in my survey on “Audio Watermarks: Acoustic Perceptibility”. The entire survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Before you begin, please take the time to read the following text carefully.
IMPORTANT:
This survey is primarily based on audio samples. Good headphones or speakers and careful listening in a quiet environment are necessary. The test should not be conducted using cell phone speakers or similar devices.
Introduction to the topic:
Audio watermarks are digital markers embedded in audio files. They can be used to determine the origin or the creator of the file—similar to watermarks in images.
Their acoustic perceptibility can vary in intensity—from “inaudible” to “subtly noticeable” to “clearly audible”. Watermarks are audible as a high-pitched hissing sound.
Survey Procedure:
First, you will hear the original audio without a watermark. Subsequently, the audio sample (always 15 seconds long) will be played repeatedly—sometimes with and sometimes without a watermark. Please listen carefully and note whether you perceive a watermark or not.
