Comparing the Three Personality Disorders Clusters Based on Circadian Patterns, Sleep Health, and Aggression/Impulsivity
What is the purpose of the study?
You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Adea Borova as part of a Master's thesis at Technical University of Munich. The purpose of this study is to understand potential differences in circadian patterns - the physical, behavioral, and mental changes that an organism experiences over a 24 hour cycle - among the three clusters of personality disorders, as well as understand if there are any common sleep disturbances among the clusters, and how aggression/impulsivity levels are affected.
Can I take part and how long does it take?
If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to answer several questions about your internal body clock, your sleep health, your diagnosis, and questions assessing your light exposure behavior and aggression/impulsivity levels.
The estimated time commitment for your participation is 20 minutes.
Participants over the age of 18 with an official diagnosis of a personality disorder are allowed to participate.
Are there any risks?
There are no associated risks with this study. Should there be any questions that make you uncomfortable, you can withdraw from the study at any time without further consequences. If you find yourself in emotional distress, reach out to your primary mental health professional immediately. You may also reach out to the researcher, and will be directed to the appropriate authorities that may help you.
How are my data protected?
All data collected from you will be stored and scientifically evaluated in accordance with data protection law (EU General Data Protection Regulation, German Federal Data Protection Act). Only the listed researchers have access to your data and will handle your information confidentially. The data for the study will be stored on servers hosted by SoSciSurvey in Munich, Germany and downloaded to servers hosted by the Technical University of Munich, Germany.
We will not collect any personal information that could identify you so your data are anonymized. Your anonymized data will be published on a publicly available data repository and submitted to a scientific journal for publication. Since only anonymized data will be collected, it is not possible to delete your answers from the dataset should you withdraw from the study after submitting your responses.
Can I withdraw from the study?
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the study at any time without any consequences.
