Introduction - Welcome!

This survey explores the relevance and application of Knowledge Management activities and competences in the daily practice of Research Managers in Higher Education Institutions. It will also contribute to assessing the current Research Management Competence Framework (RM Comp) by examining whether it adequately reflects Knowledge Management-related competences.

The focus of this study is on Research Management within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), not funding agencies, industry, or consultancies.
Research Managers are professionals who support, enable, and facilitate research across the research lifecycle. This includes roles such as project or financial managers, pre-/post-award officers, policy or strategy advisors, impact or ethics officers, knowledge transfer specialists, and others.
If you work in an HEI and support research in any capacity, you are invited to take part!

This survey is anonymous, will take about 10-15 minutes to complete, and your responses will be used solely for academic purposes.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact me directly at joanna.hoefinghoff@donau-uni.ac.at

What is Knowledge Management?

Knowledge Management is understood as a strategic, process-oriented approach that aims to enhance organizational performance through the systematic creation, sharing, application, and management of knowledge and information. KM involves both tacit (implicit, intuitive) and explicit knowledge and requires the alignment of appropriate technologies, cultural conditions, and learning processes to support the achievement of strategic and operational goals. It facilitates collaboration across individuals, teams, and organizations, and contributes to the development of learning organizations by promoting continuous improvement, innovation, and adaptability.
