What
role does AGE play in PAIN RESEARCH?
Aging plays at least two crucial roles in pain research. First, age is a
key individual factor guiding personalized pain management. Second,
age-related physiological changes—though not fully elucidated—provide
insights into the mechanisms of pain and nociception and their potential
disruption. Here, aging refers not only to the pain experiences of
older adults but also to processes spanning the entire life course.
The Special
Interest Group (SIG) “Pain in older Persons” in combination with an expert
group invites you to complete a survey. The
aim of this survey is to investigate the current practice, i.e. how the variable “age” is taken into account
by pain researchers in terms of research questions, research design, methodology,
and data analysis. By sharing your perspective, you will help identify
priorities and gaps in this important research field.
Who can take part?
Anybody active in conducting pain research in humans.
Please feel free to circulate this survey to your colleagues and network:
What does the survey
involve?
Participation involves completing an online survey. It will take approximately
10 minutes to complete and is completed anonymously – no personally
identifying information is required. You are not obliged to take part and can
leave the survey at any time before completing and submitting. Incomplete
datasets will
be deleted.
Deadline
The deadline for completing this survey is December 31st 2025
